Jon McDonald made six changes to the side which was defeated last Saturday by Scarborough Athletic with Dan Stephenson, Dan JJ O’Donnell, Michael Pearson, Wilson Kneeshaw, and David Robinson all coming into the starting eleven.
The game saw its first chance inside 6 minutes when Shaw won the ball back high up in the Guisborough half and hit his long-range effort over Catterick’s goal before Dan Stephenson forced Catterick into his first save of the game on 20 minutes.
Just a minute later, Guisborough had a chance of their own as Collins found space on the right side but flashed his shot across Marshall’s goal before an excellent cross by Harvey Neary just needed a touch for the deadlock to be broken.
The game then slowed down heading towards the break with Robinson’s volley from inside the box went wide of Catterick’s goal. Just two minutes into the second half, Payne flashed an effort past the Dunston goal.
On 54 minutes, the deadlock was broken when Shaw found some space in the Guisborough box before teeing up Stephenson to fire home into the bottom corner past Catterick.
An excellent high press by Dunston resulted in Shaw winning the ball back high up and squaring the ball to Robinson who saw his effort from inside the area again well-saved by Catterick keeping the scoreline at 1-0.
With the 90th minute approaching Beddow got in behind the Dunston defence but was wiped out by Devitt which resulted in a straight red-card. From the resulting free-kick, brave goalkeeping by Marshall secured the three points for Dunston closing down a close-range effort.
Next up for Dunston is a home game in the Northern Premier League Division East against Hallam on Saturday. (3pm kick-off).
